By now, most University of Utah users are familiar with the collaborative nature of Google Docs. Most have probably also experienced a situation where you shared a Google Doc that you didn't really want others to edit. It is also pretty common knowledge that to prevent that, you use a method called "Force Copy."
3. Change the link settings to "Anyone with the link"
4. Copy the link and paste it wherever you are sharing it
5. Edit the end of the link by replacing the word "edit" and everything after it with "copy"
Use that link when sharing and the person you are sharing with will get a prompt to "make a copy" when they click it. You can also bookmark that link so that you get the "make a copy" prompt if you are using it for a template.
