Updated on

Introduction

Ready and excited to begin a new semester? We have created the ultimate checklist for instructors to ensure you start out the semester on the right foot. Follow the steps and links below to ensure that you are prepared to utilize available audiovisual resources in the classroom and are aware of support options.

Checklist

Does your classroom have audio and visual equipment presentation installed?

General Access
classrooms on campus all have A/V equipment installed; however, a small number of campus classrooms do not. Make sure to check your classroom’s A/V status ahead of time. To find out what equipment is installed in your classroom and the type of connections it has, please call our service desk at 801-581-6112 option 1. If your room does not have projection equipment installed, we can deliver it to all of your class sessions.

Do you need A/V Equipment delivered to your classroom?

If your classroom does not have installed equipment, or if you need additional equipment such as a microphone or document camera, you will need to make a reservation to have equipment delivered to your class. To make a reservation please fill out our Portable A/V Equipment Request Form.

Do you have HDMI and USB connection cables for your classroom?

Most classrooms on campus do not have an installed desktop computer and require a laptop be hooked into the system for classroom presentations. To connect your laptop to our A/V Systems you will need to bring an HDMI cable.

If you need to use the USB camera/mic system in one of our Video Capture Classrooms, you will need to bring a USB-B cable to connect.  NOTE:  During Summer 2023, the USB inputs in these rooms have been swapped out from USB-A to USB-B type inputs.  If you are a former user of these rooms, make sure to bring the new USB-B cable.

HDMI and USB-B cables can be checked out from our service desk located in the Marriott Library Faculty Center, suite 1705. We can checkout cables to instructors for the semester, however we cannot deliver stand-alone cable orders. They must be picked up at our service desk.

Are you familiar with the installed audio visual equipment in your classroom?

If you are unsure of how to operate the A/V equipment installed or delivered for your classroom, you may schedule an equipment training in your classroom, with a TLT staff member. 24-hour notice is required. Please email [email protected] to schedule a training appointment.

Do you need classroom recording or other AV support services?

Digital Learning provides classroom recording and other AV supports services that can help you in the classroom.  Please visit this Video and A/V Services to Help you in the Classroom support article for more information on these services.  If you need to report an issue with classroom AV equipment, please fill out our AV Maintenance & Repair Form.
