Getting to Know Canvas Catalog

Canvas Catalog is a tool that can be used to share educator training and professional development programs across departments, universities, and continuing education. It is an easy and effective way to offer mandatory training and self-directed learning experiences for users who are involved with the University, but who do not have email or uNID credentials. Catalog uses:

Creating a Catalog Listing

Canvas Catalog listings can be created by the LMS administration or by users who are Catalog administrators. In either case, you must fill out a Catalog Listing Form and attach it to an email requesting your course to be added to Catalog to [email protected]

Fill out the Catalog Listing Form to the best of your ability 

 

LMS Administrator creates the Catalog Listing for you

This option is best if you only have a few Catalog listings and you won't need to make regular adjustments.

  1. Open the Catalog Listing Form
  2. Click on Make a Copy
  3. Download as a Microsoft Word file from File > Download > Microsoft Word (.docs)
  4. Fill out the form and save it to your favorite location.  Email [email protected] and explain that you would like a Catalog listing placed in the University of Utah Catalog.
  5. Attach the completed form and send
  6. A ticket will be created and you should hear from the Canvas Administrator very soon

You become a Catalog Administrator and create your own Listings

This option is best if you have or anticipate multiple Catalog listings and/or will need to make regular adjustments and check analytics in your courses. 

  1. Open the Catalog Listing Form
  2. Click on Make a Copy
  3. Download as a Microsoft Word file from File > Download > Microsoft Word (.docs)
  4. Fill out the form and save it to your favorite location
  5. Email [email protected] and explain that you would like a Catalog listing placed in the University of Utah Catalog and that you would like to be an administrator in Canvas Catalog
  6.  Attach the completed form and send
  7. A ticket will be created and you should hear from the Canvas Administrator very soon
