When your course videos are finished being edited and ready for your review and approval, the media team will send you an email and upload them to Mediaspace. Mediaspace is just another way to access your course media, just as you would from the My Media link in Canvas. Since you need to review and approve your videos before they can be placed into Canvas, you can access and organize them in Mediaspace.
Accessing Mediaspace
Access Mediaspace at mediaspace.utah.edu.
Click the Login button in the upper-right corner to log in with your UNID:
You will then be redirected to the Mediaspace homepage, with your name now showing in the upper-right corner.
Now you can access your media. Click on your name, then My Media:
Your My Media will have all videos that have ever been uploaded to your account. To make it easier to see videos recorded for your course in the Hybrid Pathway, which will have been uploaded most recently, sort by the creation date in descending order.
Organizing Your Videos
Your videos will sometimes be uploaded into Mediaspace in incomplete sets: for example, you may have recorded all the videos for two modules or units, but the media team has uploaded half the videos from one module and half from the other (with the two remaining halves to be uploaded at a future date). To help keep track of videos and organize them, the instructional designers recommend you rename your videos to match their sequencing and name on the Course Planning Tool (i.e., 4.1.2 Lower Limb: Innervation), and put them in playlists based on the modules or other organization method you're using for your course.
To rename a video, EITHER
1) Click on the video from your My Media page and select Edit from the Actions drop-down:
OR,
2) Click the pencil icon from your My Media page, edit the title, and Save:
Another organization method for your videos is to put them into playlists, perhaps for each module or topic in your course.
To do this, start by checking the boxes next to the videos on your My Media page that you want to add to a playlist, then click Actions and Add to playlist.
If you want to add the videos to an existing playlist, check the box next to it and click Add.
If you want to create a new playlist, click Create New Playlist, title it, click Create, then click Add.
You will see a confirmation screen when the videos are successfully added to the playlist. Click click here to see your playlist.
On the Edit Playlist page, you can:
1. Add a description to your playlist if desired
2. Reorder the items in your playlist by dragging and dropping
3. Add more videos to your playlist
When finished, Save your work.
To see all of your playlists, click your name in the upper-right corner and select My Playlists:
From here, you can
1. Create a playlist
2. View playlist details
3. Edit a playlist
